Marketing & Communications Team Manager
Location: US – either remote or based out of our Seattle, WA office
Salary Range: $62,000 – $70,000 annually DOE plus benefits
SBI is seeking a passionate and innovative Marketing & Communications Team Manager to rally and inspire our team of marketers, wordsmiths, digital designers, and analytics geeks. The MarCom Team partners with SBI’s clients to establish overarching marketing strategies to support their goals, such as growing membership, increasing event attendance, providing professional education, encouraging advocacy, and much more!
As the Manager of the Marketing and Communications Team, you will provide leadership and guidance to the team in delivering exceptional marketing and communications services to association clients in support of their unique goals and objectives, as well as support SBI’s digital marketing strategy and business development opportunities. You will develop and implement marketing plans and provide project management support to a variety of non-profit professional associations. You will have the opportunity to flex your creativity by taking a lead role in creating engaging inbound marketing strategies to produce effective website content, email marketing campaigns, promotional materials, newsletters, and social media posts. This is a cross-functional position that will closely collaborate with the Association Executive, Member Services, and Event teams, and reports directly to the Vice President of Business Development.

What you’ll be doing…
Leadership
- Develop and inspire innovative strategies and ideas that ensure SBI is at the forefront of delivering association marketing and communications across clients
- Ensure delivery of marketing and communications services that meet or exceed client expectations through collaboration with Association Executives, Member Services, and Event Teams
- Analyze and recommend improvements to systems and procedures to ensure high-quality marketing and communications
- Provide insight and recommendations to Leadership Team regarding MarCom Team staff capacity, needs, and workflow
- Manage marketing and communications staff and outsourced vendors retained for MarCom support
- Successfully multi-task and prioritize workload, delegate work effectively to team members
Team Management
- Supervise team members in scheduling, prioritizing, and managing workloads through individual and team meetings and coaching opportunities
- Lead team meetings; prepare meeting agendas
- Manage the team’s labor within client budget hours
- Participate in interviews and hiring decisions
Staff Training & Development
- Inspire best practices in marketing and communications across clients and all staff
- Provide input on new staff orientations and develop training schedules
- Lead staff onboarding and orientation in the area of marketing and communications
- Identify and encourage engagement in professional development, training, and networking opportunities
- Participate and provide input in staff reviews, professional development plans, and performance improvement plans
- Develop and implement staff recognition programs in collaboration with other team leaders
Marketing and Communications
- Provide day-to-day marketing and communications project management for multiple clients simultaneously including responsibilities such as:
- Develop annual marketing plans/timelines for email, websites, social, and print materials using our sophisticated project management system
- Develop, compile, proofread, and distribute communications using email marketing platforms
- Manage assigned client websites, including updating content and creating new webpages within our unique association website platform
- Project manage new client website transitions and existing client website redesigns
- Staff marketing/communications committees, working with client volunteers to implement marketing plans and produce marketing materials
- Establish expectations for collaboration with volunteers and team members
- Staff client events (includes occasional travel to regional and national meetings)
- Support development and implementation of SBI marketing plan, website, email marketing, and social media
- Assist with new business proposals in support of the Vice President of Business Development
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with marketing and technology vendors

You should bring these things to the table…
- 4+ years of professional experience in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field
- Experience directly supervising one or more team members
- Proven track record of producing effective marketing plans and/or projects including web, email, and/or print components
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage concurrent tasks efficiently
- Ability to produce and proofread written content quickly, accurately, and on tight deadlines
- Proficiency in full Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrable experience working with Adobe Creative Suite applications including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Experience with Personify MC Professional (MemberClicks), WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or other website content management systems (CMS) including basic knowledge of HTML
- Experience with Constant Contact, Mail Chimp, or other email marketing platforms
- Experience managing social media for businesses, use of Hootsuite, and/or a depth of knowledge in social media strategy and building/maintaining social media accounts
It would be extra awesome if you also had…
- Nonprofit or association experience (or experience working with boards of directors and/or volunteers)
- Exposure to ConnectWise, Salesforce, Jira, Trello, Zendesk, or other customer relationship management (CRM) systems
- Experience with Google Analytics and Google Docs
- Experience with Zoom meetings, phone, and/or chat features
