In 1981, Shirley Bishop founded Shirley Bishop Incorporated (SBI) to provide management services to the Washington State Society of Anesthesiologists, who remains one of SBI’s flagship clients today. In 2007, Bishop transitioned ownership to Seattle-area businesswomen Marlis Korber and Harriet Burger. Shirley Bishop Incorporated then became SBI Management Services, later changing again in 2016 to SBI Association Management.
Marlis, Harriet, and their growing team spent three years completely rebuilding the infrastructure of the business by embracing new technology, bringing in outside certified accounting services, and updating client records to a secure, accessible electronic format. With this streamline in efficiency, SBI began partnering with larger and more diverse associations while maintaining strong relationships with early clients, and quickly made a name for itself as the top Association Management Company in the Pacific Northwest.
